THE FLATS – Georgia Tech’s Marcus Georges-Hunt in this week’s Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, an annual pre-draft showcase for college seniors taking place Wednesday through Friday in Portsmouth, Va.
This is the 63rd annual event, which brings together 64 of the best college basketball seniors from across the nation to participate in a four-day, twelve-game tournament in front of representatives from every NBA team.
Georges-Hunt, who will graduate from Tech in May, made the All-Atlantic Coast Conference team in 2015-16 and led the Yellow Jackets to a 21-15 record and to the quarterfinals of the National Invitation Tournament. The 6-5 guard from College Park, Ga., averaged 16.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. He finished his Yellow Jacket career 11th on Tech’s all-time scoring list with 1,728 points, and set season records for free throws and free throw attempts his senior year.
Georges-Hunt set a Tech record by starting 129 games over four seasons and tied another mark by playing in 130 games. He posted career averages of 13.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, shot 43.3 percent from the floor, 32.9 percent on threes and 74.9 percent on free throws. He was the 19th player in Tech history to accumulate more than 1,000 points and 500 rebounds.
