Gathers was named ACC Defensive Lineman of the Week after he had eight tackles, two quarterback sacks, and three tackles for loss against the Blue Devils. The junior from LaPlace, La., accumulated 16 yards of losses in his two sacks of Duke quarterback D. Bryant, and he was also credited with two quarterback pressures. The Yellow Jackets held Duke to just 73 yards of offense in the second half.
Gathers leads the ACC with seven quarterback sacks this season. He has 27 for his career and needs just two more to break the Tech career record of 28.5, set by Coleman Rudolph.
