THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech softball team (5-14, 1-5 ACC) dropped a doubleheader, 4-1 (11) and 9-0 (5), to Boston College (17-9, 3-0) Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
Game 1: Boston College 4, Georgia Tech 1 (11)
It was a pitcher’s duel until the top of the fifth when Boston College used its speed to push a run across the plate and take a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the seventh the Jackets tied it up 1-1. Jessica Kowalewicz was hit by a pitch, and Maddie Lionberger and Samantha Pierannunzi each walked. With one out, Kelsey Chisholm’s groundout brought in Kowalewicz to force extra frames.

In the top of the eighth, Boston College loaded the bases, and with two outs Jenna Goodrich came up big with a strikeout to hold off the Eagles.

In the bottom of the 11th, Boston College loaded the bases with two outs. Back-to-back hit by pitches brought in two for the Eagles, and an RBI-single made it 4-1.

Emily Anderson (4-9) suffered the loss, throwing 1.2 innings in relief, while Boston College reliever Jessica Dreswick (7-3) picked up the win.

Game 2: Boston College 9, Georgia Tech 0 (5)
The Eagles wasted little time in game two, scoring three runs in the top of the first thanks to a three-run home run by Jordan Chimento to put the Eagles up 3-0.

Boston College continued that momentum with five runs in the second inning to go up 8-0. The Eagles tacked on a run in the third to make it 9-0.

Georgia Tech starter Jenna Goodrich (1-5) suffered the loss, pitching 1.2 innings. Boston College starter Dreswick (8-3) earned the win.
