Gardner Named Freshman All-America

Jan. 4, 2006

Georgia Tech offensive tackle Andrew Gardner was named a first-team Freshman All-America, the Football Writers Association of America announced Wednesday at the organization’s annual awards breakfast.

A 6-6, 285-pound redshirt freshman, Gardner started every game at left tackle, playing every snap in most games.

The Tyrone, Ga., native helped Tech lead the Atlantic Coast Conference in fewest sacks allowed (10) while ranking third in the league in rushing (153.8).

Gardner was one of five ACC players chosen to the 27-man team.

Gardner was also a Freshman All-ACC and honorable mention Freshman All-America by The Sporting News.
