Georgia Tech Head Coach Kate Madden
“It’s been like this lately. It’s been extra-inning close games and it’s been a battle and we just keep sticking with it. This team has a never-say-die attitude and they knew if we won today, we wouldn’t have to play again until tomorrow. I’m just so excited.”
“Our underclassmen are really carrying us right now. It’s unbelievable. In all my years of playing and coaching, I’ve never seen anything like it. Katie (Donovan) had a great at bat and won the game for us.”
Alabama Head Coach Patrick Murphy
“I thought it was an exciting game, and one where both teams could easily have won it or lost it.”
“I thought we showed a lot of heart and fight by not quitting every time we got behind, and we still had a chance in the end. With a young team, with eight new people in regionals, that’s the only thing you can ask for.”
On the controversial foul ball call on Lacy Prejean:
“From what I saw, I thought it hit her, and she took her base. She (the home plate umpire) asked for help and went to the base umpires and they determined it hit her bat and hit her arm. So when she (Prejean) came back, I said ‘Lacy, tell me the truth’ and she said it hit my bat and hit my arm. I said ‘OK, good call, blue.’ And that’s all we needed. “
