THE FLATS – Former Georgia Tech letterwinner Danielle Hamilton-Carter returns to the Swedish National Team this summer, but will have a different position on the court. Hamilton-Carter will serve as the assistant coach for the U18 Swedish National Team and help guide the team in the European Championships August 4-13 in Hungary.
A basketball veteran, Hamilton-Carter has no shortage of national team experience, having played at nearly every level of the Swedish national team: twice playing for the U16, U18 and U20 teams before joining the senior level team. In 2007, Hamilton-Carter helped lead Sweden to a silver medal in the U19 World Championships. Amongst her national team experience, she has competed twice in the World University Games and twice in the European Championships with the senior team. She has appeared in over 170 games with the national teams from youth to senior level.
After leaving Georgia Tech in 2013, Hamilton-Carter began her professional playing career and has spent four years traveling the world, playing professionally. Hamilton-Carter played in 83 games for Tech from 2010-13, earning a starting role her final season.
Also representing her home country this summer, current Yellow Jacket Francesca Pan rejoins the Italian National Team, competing with the U20 team in the European Championships in Portugal, July 8-16.
