Like clockwork. Every year since 1933, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Duke Blue Devils have met on the gridiron. In fact, Georgia Tech has played Duke more often than any other ACC opponent.
Georgia Tech has won the last 10 meetings and 18 of the last 19 overall. While the Jackets lead the series 50-30-1, it wasn’t dominated by Tech in the beginning. Duke won 10 of the first 13 meetings. From 1937-57, each meeting featured a ranked team, including five games with both teams ranked in the Top 20 (1946, 1947, 1952, 1953, 1955).
Duke hasn’t won in Atlanta since 1994. The Yellow Jackets have won the last nine meetings in Bobby Dodd Stadium.
This season alone, the Jackets play five of their seven-most frequently played football rivals – Georgia, Duke, Clemson, North Carolina and Tulane. This year marks the 109th meeting with the Dawgs, the 82nd with the Blue Devils, the 80th with the Tigers, the 50th with the Tar Heels and 49th against the Green Wave.
Georgia Tech is 25-6 vs. Duke in the ACC era, while Paul Johnson is 10-1 for his career against the Blue Devils (6-0 at Tech).
