May 6, 2015

THE FLATS — Markeisha Everett has been named Georgia Tech Athletics’ Director of Marketing, announced Wednesday by the Athletic Association.

“We’re thrilled to bring Markeisha on board to help lead our marketing and fan experience activities,” said Rick Thorpe, Associate AD for Sales & Fan Experience. “She’s a talented professional in our industry and has built an excellent reputation from work done both on campus as well as on national collaborations.”

Everett (first name pronounced Mar-kee-shuh) comes to Atlanta after spending nearly two years as the Director of Athletic Marketing at West Virginia University. While at WVU, she was responsible for the marketing, promotion, and in-game entertainment for the Mountaineers’ men’s basketball, baseball, volleyball, and wrestling teams. She also assisted in the gameday promotions for football as well as worked closely with the ticket office to maximize sales efforts for all ticketed varsity programs.

“I’m extremely excited to join the Georgia Tech Athletics family,” Everett said. “I look forward to being able to help with the continued growth of the department. I’m committed to pursuing innovative strategies to market our programs and enhance the fan experience for all Yellow Jacket fans.”

Prior to working at WVU, Everett worked as a marketing specialist at Gonzaga University during the 2012-13 athletic season. While at Gonzaga, she oversaw the marketing and promotions for 16 varsity programs, social media, and revenue generation for six ticketed sports.

From 2010-12 she was the assistant director of marketing at the University of Missouri, where she oversaw the marketing and promotions for soccer, wrestling, swimming & diving, and softball. She also assisted with group sales and gameday production and promotions for men’s basketball and football.

An active member of NACMA and NACWAA, she co-hosts a Monday night marketing chat on Twitter (#mnmchat). Everett began her professional career as a marketing assistant at North Dakota State (2009-10) where she assisted with the marketing and promotions of 16 varsity sports.

The Cleveland native graduated from Bowling Green State in 2008 with a bachelor’s in education. She earned her master’s in sport administration from West Virginia in 2009.
