Volleyball standouts Kele Eveland and Lauren Sauer were each named to the Academic All-District III volleyball first team, announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
To be eligible for the Academic all-District and All-America teams, a player must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better and be a starter or important reserve. Both athletes are now eligible for the Academic all-America team, and will appear on the ballot which will be voted on later in the year.
Eveland, a senior from Grand Rapids, Mich., is a second-time honoree who maintains a 3.76 GPA in Management. She is the starting setter for the No. 6 volleyball team which currently has a 27-1 record. Eveland is second on Tech’s career assist list with 5,941 and is currently ranked first in the nation in assists per game (15.10).
Sauer, a junior from Huntsville, Ala., is a first-time honoree who maintains a 3.61 GPA in Management. A two-time ACC Player of the Week this season, Sauer is a starting outside hitter who currently leads the team in kills (391) and is second on the team in kills per game (4.25). She recently recorded her 1,000th career kill and currently ranks 11th on the career kill list.
