Divar Falls in Second Round of ITA All-Americans

TULSA, Okla. – Georgia Tech men’s tennis sophomore Carlos Divar‘s impressive run in the ITA All-American Championships came to an end as he fell to Thomas Laurent, 6-1, 6-4, in the Round of 32 on Friday afternoon.

After Laurent took the first set, Divar came back strong for a hard-fought second, but couldn’t hold on.

Divar’s run ends after winning four-straight matches, dating all the way back to the beginning of the week in the ITA All-Americans qualifying round. There, the sophomore downed Buffalo’s Ethan Nittolo in three sets before making easy work of Ewan Moore of Tulane. Divar then defeated high-seeded Parker Wynn of Louisville to secure his place in the main draw. He reached the Round of 32 by defeating Jose Salazar of Arkansas in a three-set battle.

Georgia Tech men’s tennis returns to the court when it hosts the ITA Southeast Regional Presented by Oracle at Byers Complex beginning Friday, Oct. 13.
