Digna Strautmane Signs Grant-In-Aid With Jackets

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s basketball head coach Nell Fortner announced on Thursday forward Digna Strautmane has signed a grant-in-aid to join the Yellow Jackets for the 2021-22 season. Strautmane comes to Tech after four years at Syracuse.

“We are extremely excited that Digna will be joining the Yellow Jackets in the fall with a strong core of returners,” commented Fortner. “She brings vast experience, along with tremendous versatility in her game, that will help this team immediately.”

A 6-2 forward from Riga, Latvia, Strautmane was a four-year starter for the Orange, having started all 120 games since arriving at Syracuse in 2017-18. Strautmane was a member of three NCAA Tournament teams with the Orange, most recently helping Syracuse to a second round appearance in 2021. This past season, Strautmane started all 24 contests and finished third on the team in rebounding, securing 5.8 per game. Offensively, she contributed 7.4 points per game and shot 38.8 percent from the field.

Strautmane finished her four years at Syracuse with 1,082 points and 637 rebounds, shooting 39.4 percent from the floor and 77.1 percent at the free throw line. In 2018-19, she was named to the All-ACC Academic Team.

In addition to her collegiate experience, Strautmane has been a member of her Latvian National Team, having competed at the FIBA U20 European Championships (2016, 2017, 2018), FIBA Women’s World Cup with the Latvian Senior National Team and 2017 FIBA U19 World Cup.
