Oct. 13, 2008

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech sophomore Derrick Morgan was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week the league office announced this afternoon.

Morgan, a Coatsville, Pa. native, had career-highs of four tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks in Saturday win against Gardner-Webb at Bobby Dodd Stadium. He also added 10 total tackles and he partially deflected Gardner-Webb’s game-tying field goal in the closing moments of the Yellow Jacket’s 10-7 win. Morgan, who had seven solo tackles, spearheaded a defensive effort that allowed Tech to hold Gardner-Webb to seven points and just 74 yards rushing.

Morgan and the Yellow Jackets (5-1, 2-1 ACC) return to action on Saturday at Clemson (Noon/ESPN).
