GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the fourth time this season, freshman Kaela Davis has been named the ACC Rookie of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.
Davis’ four ACC Rookie of the Week awards is a conference-high among all of the rookies. Davis is averaging 18.4 ppg this season, which leads all ACC freshmen.

Davis scored 18 points at Florida State and led the Jackets with five rebounds. Davis scored 15 of her 18 points in the first half against the Seminoles. Davis then led the Jackets against Boston College, scoring 22 points.
Davis’ 22 points against the Eagles puts her just six points away from breaking Karen Lounsbury’s (1988-89) record of 539 points scored in a single season for a freshman. Davis has 534 points so far this season.
Davis was previously named the ACC Rookie of the Week during the weeks of Nov. 11, Dec. 9 and Jan. 20. She is the first Jacket to be named the ACC Rookie of the Week four times in one season since current senior Tyaunna Marshall garnered the accolade five times during the 2010-11 season.
Next up, the Jackets travel to the ACC tournament which runs from March 5-9 at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C. The Jacket received the seventh seed, which guarantees a first round bye. Tech will play the winner of No. 10 Virginia and No. 15 Boston College at 6 p.m. on Thursday. The game will be shown on the ACC Regional Sports Network and Fox Sports South in Atlanta.
