The Georgia Tech baseball team opens the 2008 season Feb. 22 vs. Youngstown State. Every day, leading up to the first pitch, a Yellow Jacket player blogs about the upcoming season.Today’s blog is by junior right-handed pitcher, Eddie Burns, whose photo is displayed on page one of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution sports section today.
Just one day away from the season opener! There’s nothing like baseball season. It seemed like this day would never come. As the other guys have already said, this team is ready to show what it can do. It seems like we’ve been beating up on each other for so long. It will be fun to finally face some different color jerseys.
I’m in my fourth year and can honestly say that this team has better chemistry than any of the past three. We feel that this team is going to do some great things. Of course, our goal is a national championship. Together, with the entire Tech baseball staff, we have worked hard and put ourselves in a position to be successful. All we can do now is go out and play. We just hope the weather cooperates.
Tonight some of our guys will try get to bed early to prepare for tomorrow’s game. Hopefully, (David) Duncan will not be haunted by nightmares of tripping over first base. We like our starting pitchers to be well rested.
I know all of our fans and supporters are excited also. Today we noticed the frat guys have already put up their platform on the brown wall. We are looking forward to a great season and can’t wait to see you all out at the Rusty C.
