Feb. 15, 2008
The Georgia Tech baseball team opens the 2008 season Feb. 22 vs. Youngstown State. Every day, leading up to the first pitch, a Yellow Jacket player blogs about the upcoming season. Today’s blog is by junior southpaw David Duncan.
There is only one week left until our first game and many of the guys are making sure they are on top of their school work before the season starts. As you may already know, the season is more compact this year, which makes the beginning of the semester that much more important.
I personally have been very busy with school, baseball and becoming a personal tutor for Luke Murton in Computer Science.
As far as practice goes, we spent our Thursday prepping for the weekend’s last intrasquad games since this will be the last day to work on defensive drills until next Tuesday.
As we already know, the season is just around the corner and us players have to get ready physically and mentally. Eddie Burn is dealing with the misfortunes of reality when he saw the cover of the media guide and realized he wasn’t as tall as he thought. (Just use the ruler provided on the side for official record.) Jason Garafalo discovered that not only does he struggle with card games such as Spades, he also does not match well in Mario tennis.
Once the season starts, we will put this behind us and concentrate on the season. We are all excited about our season starting in a week and look forward to having a great year.
GO JACKETS!
