CollegeSwimming Swimmers of the Week
THE FLATS – Following his first action of the season last weekend, senior Moises Loschi was named the men’s ACC Swimmer of the Week by CollegeSwimming.com, it was announced on Tuesday.
In the Yellow Jackets’ dual meet split with No. 25 Notre Dame and Northwestern last weekend, Loschi appeared to be in midseason form after missing Tech’s season-opening dual meet versus Pittsburgh on Oct. 6 due to an injury.
In Tech’s meet at Notre Dame on Friday, Loschi recorded wins in both the 100 breast with an NCAA B qualifying time of 54.88 and in the 200 breast with his time of 2:01.07. He also placed sixth overall in the men’s 1000 free with his time of 9:44.35.
On Saturday, Loschi helped the Yellow Jackets post a dominating win over the Northwestern Wildcats, as the senior won the 200 breast with a time of 2:00.84, took second in the 100 breast with an NCAA B qualifying time of 55.17 and placed fourth overall in the 200 IM with his time of 1:55.34. He also swam as the second leg on the first-place 200 medley relay team, which touched the wall in a time of 1:30.13.
His 100 breast time of 54.88 ranks 12th nationally and second in the ACC, while his 200 breast time of 2:00.84 is third overall in the ACC and 17th nationally.
The selections were made on the basis of swims through October 22, 2017.
Loschi is the second Yellow Jacket to earn the weekly recognition from CollegeSwimming.com this season, as fellow teammate Caio Pumputis was also named the men’s ACC Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 10.
The Yellow Jackets host Delta State University this Saturday at 11 a.m. ET at the McAuley Aquatic Center.
