ATLANTA – The No. 25 ranked recruit in the country according to Prep Volleyball, Chanell Clark-Bibbs has signed a national letter of intent with the Georgia Tech volleyball team as announced by head coach Tonya Johnson, Thursday.
Clark-Bibbs, a 6-1 middle blocker who comes to Tech from Cypress Falls High School in Houston, Texas, is one of ESPN’s high school volleyball Top-100 senior aces, a Houston area All-District and Texas All-State.
“We’re excited to welcome Chanell to the GT family,” said head coach Tonya Johnson. “She will be a great addition to our program. She will add depth, athleticism, size, and speed to our middle blocking position. I look forward to her having a great career here at Georgia Tech.”
Clark-Bibbs, who played under the direction of Kathy Stephenson at Cypress Falls, was named the Houston Area Athlete of the Week for the week of September 5 and has recently been nominated as an AVCA High School All-American.
Clark-Bibbs fits the Tech profile academically as well, as she was a 2010 Cy Fair ISD Academic All-District in her junior season.
The early signing period continues through next Wednesday, Nov. 16. The Yellow Jackets will continue their 2011 campaign this weekend in the state of North Carolina against UNC and NC State.
