Men’s basketball player Will Bynum and women’s track star Amandi Rhett were named the Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, January 19, 2004.
Bynum, a junior from Chicago, Ill., Ariz., led scored a career high 25 points off the bench in a Tech win against Maryland. Bynum recorded a season high five 3-pointers in the game. With the Jackets down by one midway through the second half, Bynum sparked a 19-2 rally that put Tech ahead by double-digits and put the game out of reach for the Terrapins.
Rhett, a senior from Willingboro, N.J., tallied two top five finishes at the Kentucky Invitational for the Georgia Tech women’s track and field team. The Willingboro, N.J., native posted a top time of 7.46 in the 60-meter dash to finish in second place. Rhett also had a runner-up finish in the 200 meters with a time of 24.17.
