A milestone was reached in week six as you, the fans, helped Buzz to become the first mascot to hit the 1,000,000 votes mark in just one week. In fact, Buzz reached the million votes mark on day four.
As of 11 p.m. on Sunday night, Buzz leads Aubie 1,248,703 votes to 955,551 votes. Aubie still has a shot in hitting that million vote mark as the competition continues until Monday at Noon. Though the Jackets are up by nearly 300,000 votes, to be sure everyone should keep voting in the morning just to help seal the victory and help Buzz to a 6-0 record, just like his football team!
If/when Buzz earns the victory, he will have handed Aubie his first loss of the year.
This week, and all the votes cast, also helped to propel Buzz to first place in total votes received as he has currently notched 1,994,431 votes in just six weeks!
“I am so glad that the fans answered my call to vote this week,” said Buzz. “We knew that those Auburn fans were going to come out strong, but we showed the nation who has the strongest fanbase and I am so happy to be your mascot!”
Next week, Buzz will match up with yet another mascot from the Beaver State when he takes on Benny Beaver of Oregon State University.
Benny is 3-2 on the year heading into the meeting and has tallied 327,751 votes in the first half of the season.
Benny has defeated Mike the Tiger of LSU in week two, Boomer of Oklahoma in week four, and the Superfrog of TCU in week five this season and has fallen to Cy of Iowa State in week one, and Wolfie, Jr. in week three.
Currently, Benny and Wilbur of Arizona are in a heated battle that will run down to the wire.
Now the reasons to vote for Buzz:
• Does Oregon State have a football team? I think they might but I’m not sure, haven’t heard too many good things about it.
• You are located in Oregon. You are Oregon State. Oregon is the Beaver State. Your mascot is a beaver. Clever.
• If Benny won this matchup it would be the greatest upset in the history of the Capital One Bowl Mascot Challenge. Probably a bigger upset than Western Carolina beating the 2011 Yellow Jackets.
