Brooks and Stegemann Named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA – Durant Brooks and Ulrike Stegemann were named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, November 6, 2006.

Brooks, a junior from Macon, Ga., punted eight times for a 44.0-yard average as the 20th-ranked Jackets maintained control of the ACC Coastal Division with a 31-23 ACC road victory at NC State. He had a net of 40.8 yards, including three punts downed inside the 20-yard line. He boomed a 61-yarder that was downed at the seven yard line with less than a minute to play. Brooks leads the nation in net punting at 41.13 yards per kick and his gross average leads the ACC and ranks ninth nationally.

Stegemann, a junior from Schwerin, Germany, helped the Yellow Jackets to a pair of road victories over teams above them in the standings this weekend. She hit a strong .431 on the week, averaging 3.22 kills, 0.78 assists and 0.89 service aces per game. She broke her career-high with five service aces vs. Florida State on Sunday afternoon.
