Broderick Snoddy Shatters School Record

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Georgia Tech track and field team recorded five first-place finishes, highlighted by sophomore Broderick Snoddy’s school record, at the Samford Invite Saturday, which served as the team’s final tune up in competition before the ACC Championships Feb. 21-23.

Snoddy finished first in the 60-meter preliminaries with a time of 6.75 to move on to the finals. Snoddy crossed the finish line in the finals in a time of 6.67, almost one-tenth of a second before the second-place finisher, and shattered his own school record time of 6.72.

Senior Niall Longobardi took first in the men’s 5000 meters with a time of 15:07.35. Fellow senior Austen Gutierrez also finished in the top five with a time of 15:14.93.

In the men’s field events, senior Mykhail Chambers claimed first place in the high jump with a height of 2.08m (6’9.75”). Junior Jonathan Gardner placed third in the triple jump with a distance of 15.11m (49’7”).

In the women’s field events, junior Julienne McKee placed first in two events – the long jump with a distance of 6.00m (19’8.25”) and the triple jump (12.35m; 40’6.25”). Teammate Jasmine Kent took fifth in the long jump (5.70m; 18’8.5”).

Freshman Spencer Allen qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdle invitational with a time of 8.36. Allen finished third in the finals with a time of 8.24.

On the women’s side, freshman Kamilah Bakari qualified for the finals in the same event with a time of 8.99. She crossed the line in the finals in 9.01 to place fifth.  

Freshman Nathan Daniel placed second in the pole vault at 4.60m (15’1”).

The Jackets will take a rest from competition next weekend as they prepare for the ACC Championships Feb. 21-23 in Blacksburg, Va.
