THE FLATS – Georgia Tech track and field senior was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Track Co-Performer of the Week, the league announced Tuesday. It marks the third career weekly award for Lasater and second this season.
Georgia Tech’s Lasater struck again with his signature kick in the final stretch to lift the Yellow Jackets to victory in the prestigious Penn Relays 4×800-meter relay by a mere two one-hundredths of a second.
Lasater ran the anchor leg in an impressive 1:47.06 as the Yellow Jackets posted a first-place finish of 7:18.84, just ahead of second-place Georgetown’s 7:18.86. It is the first Penn Relays win for Georgia Tech since 1998 and the fourth in Tech’s 30-year program history.
The Jackets continue outdoor competition May 6 at the Seminole Twilight before the ACC Championships in Tallahassee, Fla. May 14-16.
