ATLANTA – For the third time this season, Georgia Tech’s Chris Bosh has been named ACC Rookie of the Week by a voting panel of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.
The 6-10, 210-pound forward from Lancaster, Texas, averaged 15.5 points and 10.0 rebounds last week to help Georgia Tech to a pair of wins over NC State and Cornell. Bosh connected on 61.1 percent of his field goal tries, including 4-of-6 from three-point range, and was 5-of-6 from the foul line in the two wins. Bosh recorded his sixth double-double of the year against the Wolfpack with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Bosh currently ranks 10th in the ACC in scoring average (15.3 points per game) and second in rebounding (9.8) and leads the conference in field goal percentage (59.0).
Virginia’s Todd Billet and Duke’s Dahntay Jones were named Co-ACC Players of the Week by a voting panel of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association. Billet, a 6-0, 192-pound junior guard from Middletown, N.J., scored a game-high 24 points, had three rebounds and two assists in the Cavaliers’ 79-72 victory over North Carolina Saturday. Jones, a 6-6, 210-pound senior from Trenton, N.J., averaged 19.0 points and 7.0 rebounds as the top-ranked Blue Devils posted wins over Georgetown and 17th-ranked Wake Forest. Jones matched his career high with 22 points against the Hoyas and tallied a game-high 16 points against the Demon Deacons.
