The doubles team of Scott Blackmon and Zachary Rath advanced to the semifinals of the Division II Doubles Bracket to lead the Georgia Tech men’s tennis team at the Southern Intercollegiates on Sunday.
Blackmon and Rath paired together to defeat Ladyman and Sobczyk of Furman, 8-2 in the Round of 16 and then advanced to the semifinals when Mississippi’s Claesson and Tviet withdrew from the tournament. Blackmon and Rath will now face Florida’s Nestor Briceno and Stefan Tell Monday morning.
In other doubles action, Marko Rajevac and David North fell in the quarterfinals to Duke’s Atas and Stokke, 8-4.
In singles action, Rath defeated Christopher Brown of Duke 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 in the quarterfinals of the Division II Singles, but then fell to Rea of Ole Miss, 6-2, 6-2 in the semifinals.
In the consolation singles bracket, Jordan Delass defeated Boulanov of Stetson, 6-3, 6-0.
The final day of action in the 2005 Southern Intercollegiates will occur Monday.
