GREENSBORO, N.C. – Georgia Tech volleyball senior Gabby Benda was tabbed the ACC Volleyball co-player of the week and freshman Cori Clifton earned co-freshman of the week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Benda recorded a career high 53 assists in Friday’s comeback victory over Syracuse. In the match, she eclipsed the 2,000 assist mark in her combined career at Marquette and Georgia Tech. Tallying a total of 89 assists on the weekend, Benda averaged 12.71 assists per set and also contributed three kills and three service aces. She also led the defensive effort on the floor in Sunday’s sweep of Boston College with a match-high nine digs.
Clifton posted a career high five blocks on Friday night against Syracuse and pitched in six kills, hitting at a .273 clip. Clifton stepped up offensively for the Jackets on Sunday in the win over the Eagles with seven kills on 15 attempts with a .400 hitting percentage.
The Yellow Jackets are in O’Keefe again this weekend, hosting Duke on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. and close out the homestand on Sunday, Oct. 29 against Wake Forest at 1 p.m. Both matches will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
