ATLANTA – Georgia Tech softball left fielder Shannon Bearwas named to the Capital One Academic All-District softball team as selected by the College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA) Thursday.
The senior, who earned a First Team nod for the second year in a row, is now eligible to be an Academic All-American later this month.
This year, the Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. The teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.
Bear, who boasts a 3.83 GPA, will graduate in the spring with a degree in Biochemistry. Next year, the Grayson, Ga. native will begin pharmacy school at the University of Georgia.
Bear and the rest of the Yellow Jackets will be back in action in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Thursday, May 10 in Chapel Hill, N.C.
