>> Beginning a stretch of seven of its next eight games away from home, the Georgia Tech baseball team heads to Wake Forest this weekend for an ACC series versus the Demon Deacons at Gene Hooks Field in Winston-Salem, N.C.
>> All three games can be heard live on WREK 91.1 FM in Atlanta with Nolan Alexander, Wade Rogers and Roddy Jones on the call. Friday’s and Sunday’s games will be broadcast live on the ACC Digital Network, with live video of Saturday’s game at WakeForestSports.com.
>> A midseason power surge from LF Brandon Thomas has the junior fifth in the ACC in batting average at .372. Against the conference, Thomas is hitting at a .377 clip, which is second-best. The Atlanta native is 28 for his last 64 (.438), had a game-winning RBI double in the eighth inning to beat Duke 1-0 and ripped a game-tying RBI double in the ninth to force extra innings versus No. 2 Florida State.
>> Junior RHP Buck Farmer has allowed just one run and eight hits over his last two starts — a 1-0 complete-game, three-hit shutout of Duke and an eight-inning, five-hit outing versus No. 2 Florida State. Farmer is third in the ACC in strikeouts (66).
>> Head Coach Danny Hall, who earlier this season reached the 1,000-career-win milestone, enters the Wake series needing one win for his 800th as the Yellow Jackets’ coach. Hall is in his 25th year overall, and 19th at Tech.
