Ball, Jack and Williams Named Wendy's Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA – Football star Reggie Ball and basketball standouts Jarrett Jack and Jessica Williams were named the Wendy’s Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, January 3, 2005.

Ball, a sophomore from Stone Mountain, Ga., capped the season with one of his best games, earning MVP honors in leading Tech to a 51-14 victory over Syracuse in the Champs Sports Bowl. He passed for 207 yards and two touchdowns on just 12 completions and rushed for another score in three quarters of play. The sophomore hit Nate Curry for an 80-yard touchdown pass and the longest completion of his career, and also connected with Calvin Johnson on a 10-yard scoring pass while rushing 11 yards for another touchdown. Ball currently ranks sixth in Tech history in career passing yards (4,143), sixth in touchdown passes (26), fifth in total offense (4,859) and eighth in touchdown responsibility (31).

Jack, a junior from Fort Washington, Md., scored 26 points, hitting 10 of 12 shots from the floor and 4 of 4 from the foul line, in a losing effort (70-68 in overtime) at No. 2 Kansas. He also had three assists, five rebounds and two steals in the game. Jack scored 10 points, grabbed nine rebounds and have five assists in Tech’s 92-58 win over Lafayette. The junior averaged 18 points, 4.0 assists and 7.0 rebounds while hitting 66.7 percent of his shots from the floor, and 5 of 6 from the free throw line for the week.

Williams, a junior from Riverdale, Ga., Earned MVP honors for the second time in her career after leading her team to wins over Mississippi Valley State and Alcorn State in the Georgia Tech Holiday Tournament. In the championship game against Alcorn State, she recorded her second double-double of the year, with 14 points and 12 rebounds. For the week, she averaged 7.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and two steals per game in two contests.
