LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Georgia Tech softball sophomore infielder Tricia Awald was tabbed to the NFCA all-region third team for the southeast region as announced by the NFCA on Thursday.
The native of Marietta, Ga. transferred to Tech prior to the 2019 season and started all 58 games at first base for the Jackets. With 17 doubles, she tied for the ACC lead. She slugged .614 on the season with 28 extra base hits, including 10 home runs.
Awald ranked second on the team with 53 hits and drew a team-leading 39 walks. The honor is Awald’s first of her Yellow Jacket career but the sophomore was named ASUN Freshman of the Year and was a top-25 finalist for national freshman of the year for the 2018 season at Kennesaw State.
Awald and the Yellow Jackets concluded the 2019 season with a 31-27 record, falling to No. 5 Florida State in the quarterfinals of the 2019 ACC Softball Championship after reaching postseason for the second straight season.
