GREENSBORO, N.C, – Georgia Tech senior offensive tackle Andrew Gardner has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week the league office announced this afternoon. Gardner helped the Yellow Jackets rack up a league-high 349 rushing yards in their 41-14 season-opening win over Jacksonville State last Thursday night at Bobby Dodd Stadium.
Gardner started in his 40th straight game against the Gamecocks which is tied for the longest active streak in the nation. He was instrumental in helping the Jackets accumulate 349 rushing yards and 484 yards of total offense. The Tyrone, Ga., native picked right up where left off after last season’s All-ACC campaign despite adjusting to head coach Paul Johnson’s new blocking schemes.
Gardner and the Yellow Jackets will open up ACC play on Saturday at Boston College. The noon kick-off from Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Mass., will be televised on Raycom-HD and can be seen live in the Atlanta area on WUPA.
