C Jason Varitek (.243) was 1-for-4 includinga game-ending RBI single and a strikeout.

CF Garrett Groce (.300) was 0-for-4. 3B Tyler Greene (.178) went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts. 3BWes Hodges (.280) was 2-for-3 including a sacrifice fly, adouble and a solo home run off of Andrew Kown. 1B Jeff Kindel (.262) struck out twice and walked once. 2BRichard Lewis (.250) went 0-for-2 with two walks. RHPAndrew Kown was not involved in the decision as Akron beatErie 8-4. His line: 5 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 4 SO, 2 HR.Mike Nickeas caught the bottom of the ninth inning. LFJason Perry (.290) was 1-for-3 with a solo home run, twowalks and a strikeout. 1B Clifton Remole (.095) went 0-for-3.
