“We are deeply saddened by the tragic events of this morning,” said ACC Commissioner John Swofford. “All nine ACC member institutions are in agreement that the next couple of days should be a time for reflection and prayer for the families of those who are involved in this tragedy. Our concerns are for the safety of our participants and fans, both in travel and in assembly, and respect for the aftermath of these terrible events. We will continue to seek advice and counsel from our schools and state, local and national authorities in regards to other future scheduled events.”
Commissioner Swofford has scheduled a conference call with league officials on Wednesday (September 12) to continue discussions concerning future ACC athletic events. The ACC will have an announcement Wednesday evening concerning this weekend’s athletic events.
