THE FLATS – Georgia Tech volleyball head coach Michelle Collier released the 2016 schedule Thursday highlighted by nine matches against seven 2015 NCAA Tournament participants, the Georgia Challenge hosted by the Jackets, and 13 home contests at O’Keefe Gym.
The Yellow Jackets open the season at the Auburn Tournament (Aug. 26-27) to take on Auburn, Pacific and Furman, before traveling to the Kansas State Tournament in Manhattan, Kan., where the Jackets play Kansas State (NCAA Regional), Michigan (NCAA Second Round) and Tennessee State.
The following weekend, Tech returns home to open its home slate with the Georgia Challenge. The Jackets host Kennesaw State, Georgia State and Georgia on Sept. 8-9 at O’Keefe Gym.
A quick trip to Conway, S.C. for the Coastal Carolina Tournament (Sept. 16-17) to play North Florida and Coastal Carolina (NCAA Regional) wraps up the non-conference portion of Georgia Tech’s schedule.
The Yellow Jackets open ACC play on the road at Pittsburgh (Sept. 23) and at Virginia Tech (Sept. 25), but open their home ACC schedule against North Carolina (Sept. 30), who made it to the second round of the 2015 NCAA Tournament.
Tech hosts NC State (Oct. 2), Boston College (Oct. 14), Syracuse (Oct. 16), Louisville (NCAA Second Round; Nov. 18) and Notre Dame (Nov. 20).
The Jackets wrap up their ACC regular season in Florida playing Miami (NCAA Regional; Nov. 23) and Florida State (NCAA Second Round; Nov. 25).
