ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech softball team will host the 12th Annual Buzz Classic on Friday-Sunday, March 19-21, at the Al Bishop Softball Complex, in Marietta, Ga. Twenty-five teams will be participating in the softball tournament, including the Yellow Jackets. Tech will face Austin Peay, Ohio, Nicholls State and Western Kentucky in pool play.
The top two seeds in the five pools will advance to a single-elimination championship bracket, along with two at-large teams, according to record, head-to-head, runs allowed, run differential and coin toss.
Florida State (4-0) captured the 2003 Buzz Classic, edging North Carolina (4-0) in the runs allowed tiebreaker, after the bracket competition was eliminated due to rain. The Seminoles are not returning to the Buzz to defend their title.

Georgia Tech will tangle with Austin Peay and Ohio at 3 and 6 p.m. on Friday, March 19. Tech will wrap up pool play against Nicholls State (1 p.m.) and Western Kentucky (3 p.m.) on Saturday, March 20. A single-elimination bracket will start at 8 p.m. on Saturday evening and continue through Sunday, with the championship game scheduled for 1 p.m. The Tech games will not be produced over livestats this weekend.
