Young Named ACC Defensive Back Of The Week

ATLANTA (October 2) — Georgia Tech strong safety Chris Young was named Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Back of the Week after making two key plays in the Yellow Jackets’ 42-28 victory over North Carolina.

The 6-0, 201-pound junior from Senoia, Ga., had a blocked punt that Tech’s Tony Hollings recovered for a touchdown, giving the Jackets at 28-14 third-quarter lead, and he also had interception in the end zone to thwart a Carolina scoring effort.

Young also contributed three tackles, one sack for minus-nine yards and one pass breakup.

Also honored by the ACC this week were Florida State quarterback Chris Weinke as Offensive Back, FSU tackle Tarlos Thomas as Offensive Lineman, Virginia linebackerYubrenal Isabelle as Defensive Lineman, FSU’s Pat Newton as Specialist and Clemson running back Keith Kelly as Rookie of the Week.
