ATLANTA – The 14th-ranked Georgia Tech Women’s Tennis team (6-3) will travel north for the second time this season when they head to No. 7 Notre Dame (8-1) Saturday and No. 2 Northwestern (8-1) Sunday.
“Notre Dame and Northwestern are very good teams and are well coached,” head coach Bryan Shelton said. “We will be challenged this weekend, but we will be up for it.”
Saturday’s match at Notre Dame is slated to begin at 2 p.m., while the match at Northwestern on Sunday will begin at 11 a.m.
The Yellow Jackets have had success against the two opponents this weekend. Tech is 4-0 all-time against the Fighting Irish, including a 4-3 win in Atlanta last season. The Wildcats have a 4-2 lead in their series with the Jackets, but Tech has won two of the last four meetings and the only meeting in Evanston, Ill.
After this weekend, Georgia Tech will have played five teams ranked in the current ITA national poll in its first 11 matches.
The Jackets will take almost two weeks off before hosting North Texas on Saturday, March 13. The match at the Bill Moore Tennis Center will start at noon.
