THE FLATS – Members of the Georgia Tech women’s tennis team will head to Georgia this weekend to compete in the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex.
Play begins with the doubles main draw at 9 a.m. on Friday. Two Yellow Jacket doubles teams will compete. Checking in at the number three overall seed in the doubles main draw is #26 Megan Kurey and Kendal Woodard. The duo faces FSU’s Porry and Dos Santos. The freshman pairing of Rasheeda McAdoo and Alexa Anton-Ohlmeyermatch up against Georgia State’s Garrido and Kitchen.
Five Yellow Jackets will compete in the singles main draw which begins at Friday at 11 a.m. #67 Woodard and will face Florida’s Stefani Stojic. Woodard is the overall 10th seed in the tournament. Also in the singles main draw is sophomore Natasha Prokhnevska, who will face Georgia State’s Linn Timmerman. Kurey, will play FSU’s #46 Daneika Borthwick, the number five overall seed.
McAdoo faces Carlotta Orlando at 12 p.m. while at 3 p.m. Anton-Ohlmeyer matches up against #16 Sofie Oyen of Florida.

So Far this Fall
The Yellow Jackets have competed in two fall tournaments so far, one right in Atlanta and the other at Vanderbilt. At the Georgia State Invitational at Piedmont Park, the team went 8-8 in singles and 4-3 in doubles, with freshman Rasheeda McAdoorecording a perfect 3-0 record in singles.
At the June Stewart Invitational last weekend at Vanderbilt, the Yellow Jackets recorded a 9-9 singles record and went 4-4 in doubles competition. Sophomore Megan Kurey recorded a team-best 2-1 record in singles this past weekend and went 2-1 in doubles alongside partner Kendal Woodard. The duo is ranked #26 in the preseason polls.
Kurey, Woodard Represent Tech at All-Americans
This will not be the first ITA event for sophomores Megan Kurey and Kendal Woodardthis fall. The duo competed at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships this past week. The #26-ranked pair fell in the doubles main draw to #15 Kay and Price. Kurey and Woodard then defeated three-straight ranked opponents to make it to the consolation bracket finals including two opponents ranked in the top five, # 2 Fuller and Garcia of Georgia and # 4 Hermon Brhane and Whitney Ritchie of Oklahoma. The pair fell to #3 Bolender and Bektas of Michigan in the finals.
Woodard also competed in the qualifying singles round where she went 1-1. #67 Woodard defeated UNLV’s #41 Lucia Batta, 0-6, 7-5, 6-1 in the first round before falling to #104 Bianca Sanon of Columbia, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3.
