Yellow Jackets Set for Day Three at Bulldog Invitational

THE FLATS – Day Two of the Bulldog Invitational ended Saturday. Tech looks to bounce back during day three during four matches in Athens on Sunday.

Brandon McKinney dropped his first match of the day against David Innocenti of UNC-Wilmington, 6-4, 6-3, before bouncing back against Ignacio Sandoval of UNC-Wilmington. McKinney won the first set 6-2 before Sandoval retired in the second set.

Pablo Schelcher and Angel Melgar Guerrero saw action as a doubles pairing and in singles action on the day. Schelcher/Melgar Guerrero faced the pairing of Beasley/Story of South Carolina dropping their match 8-5. Schelcher faced Beasley in singles play dropping that match, 6-4, 6-7(2), 7-5. Guerrero’s singles match was against Gabriel Hurtado of UNC-Wilmington. Guerrero lost that match 6-4, 6-3 before bouncing back against Hikaru Takeda of Dartmouth, 7-5, 6-4.

Action continues Sunday for the Jackets. Schelcher faces Bekhzod Rasamatov of UNC-Wilmington, McKinney squares up against Carter Morgan of South Carolina and Melgar Guerrero will play against Jackson Ross of Auburn. Schelcher/Guerrero will face the pairing of Troost/Ross of Vanderbilt.
