Yellow Jackets Secure Victories at MLK Invitational

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech men’s tennis continued a strong start to the spring season with four singles victories and one doubles win at day two of the MLK Invitational.

The Yellow Jackets started with a doubles win from Pablo Schelcher and Keshav Chopra. Schelcher/Chopra won 6-2 against Kenyatte/Guzauskas of Illinois.

In singles action, Chopra continued his dominant weekend with a win over No. 116 Kweisi Kenyatte of Illinois 6-2, 6-3. This is Chopra’s second win over a ranked opponent this weekend after he beat No. 87 Hugo Hashimoto of Columbia on Saturday.

In a match up of two ranked players, No. 9 Andres Martin defeated No. 113 Alex Brown of Illinois 6-4, 6-3. Chen Dong wore down his opponent winning 2-6, 6-1, 7-5 against Hunter Heck of Illinois. The final singles victory came from Marcus McDaniel who took home his marathon match 7-5, 6-7(4), 6-1 against Gabrielius Guzauskas of Illinois.

Tech will compete in day three of the MLK Invitational on Monday starting at 9 a.m. with doubles action. Singles action will start for the Jackets after six singles matches by the other participating schools.
