TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Elizabeth Kilborn, Lynn Blau and Muriel Wacker each recorded a singles victory Friday on the first day of the Seminoles Quad Tournament.
Kilborn, playing in the Garnet Bracket, dropped her first match of the day to Noemie Scharle of Florida State but rebounded to defeat Olivia Bennett of Auburn, 6-3, 6-3.
In the Gold Bracket, Blau, who was seeded as the No. 2 seed opened the day with 3-6, 6-4, 6-0 win over Bennett. In her second round match, she was unable to overcome the home-court advantage of Federica Suess and fell 7-5, 6-2.
Wacker also captured her first match of the day, a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Auburn’s Jackie Kasler. In her second singles match of the day, she fell to Vivian Vlaar of Mississippi, 6-2, 6-1.
The Yellow Jackets will open play in the doubles draw Saturday. Results will be posted at the conclusion of the day.
