Yellow Jackets' Marshall Earns Preseason Honor

Oct. 17, 2011

ATLANTA – Georgia Tech women’s basketball sophomore Tyaunna Marshall was named Second Team Preseason All-ACC by College Sports Madness.

In her rookie campaign, Marshall earned All-ACC Third Team and ACC All-Freshman Team accolades after helping Tech to a 24-11 record and a 9-5 conference mark with 13.6 points per game. Marshall was named ACC Rookie of the Week five times and scored at least 20 points in a game six times.

Marshall was named ACC All-Tournament Second Team after leading Georgia Tech in scoring in three ACC Tournament games with 16.3 points per contest as the Yellow Jackets advanced to the semifinals.

The website also unveiled its Georgia Tech team preview, projecting another solid season for the Yellow Jackets and a sixth straight NCAA Tournament berth.

“With so many letter winners back from last year’s team, Georgia Tech could have 25 wins or more under its belt by season’s end. This has potential to be the Yellow Jackets’ best season ever if the team can overcome the loss of Montgomery and get help from freshmen and returning players,” the site wrote.
