Yellow Jackets Host Georgia Tech Invitational This Weekend

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech track and field team welcomes over 700 athletes to Griffin Track Friday and Saturday when it hosts the Georgia Tech Invitational. Action begins Friday at 12 p.m. with the hammer throw and continues Saturday at 11 a.m. with the high jump.

For the Yellow Jackets, this weekend’s meet is the last of the season at Griffin Track and for some the final chance to qualify for the NCAA East Region Championships, which are scheduled for May 23-25 in Greensboro, N.C.

In Tech’s last home meet on March 29-30, the Jackets posted 15 top-three finishes, including four victories. Three of the four wins were in the field events by Julienne McKee (long jump), Jhanelle McLeod (triple jump) and Aaron Unterberger (pole vault).

Georgia Tech in the USTFCCCA rankings (as of May 6):
Brandon Lasater – No. 10, 800 meters
Aaron Unterberger – No. 27, pole vault
Jonathan Gardner – No. 13, triple jump
Julienne McKee – No. 12, long jump; No. 20, triple jump
Jhanelle McLeod – No. 7, triple jump; No. 46, long jump
Broderick Snoddy – No. 24, 100 meters
