Georgia Tech is ranked 16th in the Associated Press Preseason Poll released Saturday morning.
“The polls are important,” head coach Paul Johnson said Saturday morning before the poll was released, “but I don’t pay too much attention to them. I know it’s an advantage for those teams that start high in the polls.”
Poll notes:
Last year at this time the Yellow Jackets were ranked 15th inthe AP preseason poll. Tech is ranked 17th in the USA Today CoachesPoll released earlier in August. The Yellow Jackets finished 13thin the final AP poll of 2009. Four of the nation’s top 25 teams areon Georgia Tech’s schedule — #10 Virginia Tech, #13 Miami, #18North Carolina and #23 Georgia. Florida State is ranked 20th,giving the ACC four teams in the top 20. Four Coastal Divisionteams are ranked.
