Louisville, Ky. – The Georgia Tech men’s and women’s cross country squads competed in the Pre-Nationals Invitational in Louisville Saturday, the final tune-up before the ACC Championships. The men’s squad ended the day in 36th place in the 8k, while the women finished 44th in the 6k.
Jeremy Greenwald led the way for the men, finishing in 118th place with a time of 24:24.3. Hayley Keadey was the top finisher for the women, finishing 178th with a time of 21:37.9.
“Despite not finishing as high as we had hoped, there were a lot of positives for both the men and the women,” head coach Alan Drosky said. “With ranked teams from all regions of the country, the competition was outstanding. The men ran well and have significantly closed the gap on some of the higher ranked teams in the South Region. We still have work to do, but we feel like we are progressing as planned.”
Drosky was pleased with the performance of the women, considering that it was their first time to run a 6k race.
“As a team, they learned a lot today that will help them in the upcoming championship races.”
