ATLANTA – Jaime Wong posted come-from-behind wins in both singles and doubles to lead No. 20 Georgia Tech (13-3, 5-1 ACC) to a 5-2 win over the visiting Seminoles of No. 48 Florida State (13-8, 3-4) on Saturday afternoon at the Bill Moore Tennis Center.
The Jackets took a 1-0 lead when Wong and Kelly Anderson came from behind to win their match in the No. 1 slot. Down 7-5 in the match, the 34th-ranked duo battled back to take the match and clinch the doubles point by a 9-7 score. Mysti Morris and Lyndsay Shosho teamed at the No. 2 position to win the first doubles match, 8-1.
Wong, ranked 70th by the ITA, won Tech’s first singles match on the afternoon at the No. 3 position as she downed FSU’s Christina Denny in three sets. After dropping the first set 6-3, she came back with 6-1, 6-2 scores to give Tech a 2-1 lead in the match. Morris quickly pushed the match score to 3-1 with an easy 6-3, 6-1 win over Amberly Tantee in the No. 4 slot.
Shosho clinched the match for the Jackets at No. 5 singles by defeating Alina Mihailescu by a score of 6-3, 6-1, and Sekita Grant concluded the Tech scoring by picking up a 5-7, 6-3, 10-2 win in the No. 6 slot against Brooke Cordell.
Georgia Tech will return to action on Saturday, April 5th, when North Carolina visits the Bill Moore Tennis Center at 1 p.m.
