GREENVILLE, S.C. (Mar. 24) — The 39th-ranked Georgia Tech women’s tennis team defeated Furman, 6-1, at the Minor Mickel Tennis Center Saturday afternoon.
The Yellow Jackets swept doubles to earn the doubles point and rolled through singles, dropping just one match. Senior Bobbi Guthie defeated Natalie The, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles and freshman Kristen Roberson upended Krista Thomson, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 5 singles to give Tech a commanding lead. Junior Laura Ozolins sealed the victory for the Yellow Jackets, pulling out a 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-2 victory over Shellie Cochran at No. 6 singles in the decisive match. Sophomores Jaime Wong (No. 2 singles) and Mason Miller (No. 4 singles) also picked up three-set wins.
Georgia Tech plays at No. 3 Georgia on Tuesday.
