Women’s Tennis Unveils Fall Slate

THE FLATS – Georgia Tech women’s tennis will compete in five fall tournaments beginning in September to prepare for the competitive spring slate.

Tech will open the fall slate at the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic, Sept. 16-18, before sending select individuals to the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, N.C., Oct. 3-9.

The team will return to the courts hosting the ITA Southeast Regionals at the Ken Byers Tennis Complex, Oct. 14-17. Featuring some of the top women’s tennis players in the country, regional doubles champions and regional singles champions and finalists will qualify for the season-ending ITA National Fall Championships held in San Diego, Calif., Nov. 2-6.

Following regionals, the Jackets will take part in the Tennessee Fall Invite in Knoxville, Oct. 28-30, before concluding the tournament slate at the ITA National Fall Championships. Additionally, select individuals will compete in a pair of USTA Pro tournaments during the fall slate.

Georgia Tech welcomed newcomer Alejandra Cruz (Mexico City, Mexico) to the roster for the 2022-23 and returned nine letterwinners from the 2022 squad that reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.  Amongst Tech’s nine returning letterwinners are four ITA All-Americans from last season including Kylie Bilchev (Ipswich, England), Ava Hrastar (Duluth, Ga.), Carol Lee (Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands) and Kate Sharabura (Atlanta, Ga.).

The Alexander-Tharpe Fund is the fundraising arm of Georgia Tech athletics, providing scholarship, operations and facilities support for Georgia Tech’s 400-plus student-athletes.
