Women's Tennis Team Named Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week

ATLANTA – The women’s tennis team earned Georgia Tech Student-Athletes of the Week honors for Monday, February 5, 2007.

Kirsten Flower, Christy Striplin and Amanda Craddock all won singles matches and the Yellow Jackets took two of three doubles matches to give Georgia Tech its first USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championship in the history of the program when they did so Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 win over fourth-ranked Notre Dame in the finals.. The team also became the first ACC team since 2003 to win the tournament.

The Yellow Jackets ended an NCAA-record 89-match winning streak when they defeated three-time defending champion Stanford in the semifinals Saturday evening.

Tech also defeated 14th ranked Pepperdine, 4-0, in the first round and seventh ranked North Carolina, 4-3, in the quarterfinals en route to the title.
