ATLANTA – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team, ranked No. 31 in the nation, will open its 2005 road campaign with a trip to Ohio State Sunday at 12 p.m. EST. The Yellow Jackets enter the match with a 2-0 record while the Buckeyes stand at 2-2 this year and are ranked 65th according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
The Yellow Jackets boast a pair of ranked singles player and two doubles teams this season, including a top-25 ranking for rookie Kristi Miller, who stands 18th in singles and 16th in doubles play with Alison Silverio. Kelly Anderson is currently ranked No. 79 in singles action and forms the nation’s 58th ranked duo with Lyndsay Shosho.
Georgia Tech holds a 2-0 advantage in the series with the Buckeyes, including a 7-0 win over Ohio State in 2004.
Miller and Shosho are a perfect 2-0 in singles play this season, while Anderson, Whitney McCray, Dasha Potapova and Esther van Londen all remain undefeated in singles action this spring. Kacie Anson joins Miller and Silverio as the only players to go 2-0 in doubles play thusfar this season, while McCray, Potapova and van Londen all remain undefeated in doubles in 2005.
Following the Yellow Jackets’ match Sunday, Georgia Tech will return to action Wednesday at 2 p.m. when it hosts Alabama at the Bill Moore Tennis Center
