Women’s Tennis Announces Fall Slate

THE FLATS – The Georgia Tech women’s tennis team is set to compete in three fall tournaments to prepare for the spring slate as announced on Tuesday.

Tech will get the fall slate started Sept. 17-19 at the Furman Fall Classic in Greenville, S.C. before taking part in the ITA Southeast Regionals, Oct. 14-18. The Jackets will return to Lake Nona, Fla., where they concluded the 2021 season in the NCAA Tournament for the annual ITA Regionals competition. The final fall tune-up for Tech will be Nov. 5-7 at the Mississippi State Invite.

In addition to a pair of newcomers joining the roster in Kylie Bilchev (Ipswich, England) and Kate Sharabura (Atlanta, Ga.), Georgia Tech returns eight letterwinners from the 2021 squad that reached the NCAA Tournament round of 16 for the 11th time in program history.

A trio of Yellow Jackets were featured in the ITA Preseason Polls announced a week ago. Sophomore Ava Hrastar (Duluth, Ga.) led Tech in singles, coming in at No. 65. Classmate Carol Lee (Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands) follows Hrastar at No. 92, while senior Gia Cohen (Bradenton, Fla.) sits at No. 94. As a doubles team, Hrastar and Cohen garnered a top 10 preseason ranking, headlining the Jackets at No. 6.
